Forever Knight fanfic

I find myself kind of stuck on the latest installment of my FK series. I think it's because I've taken them so far outside of the show that the episodes no longer inspire me for that fic. Probably I will finish the latest soon, even if I'm not completely happy with it, and then take a break from writing in that universe. However, it ends on a cliffhanger so there will be at least one more.
For this one, I wrote the opposite of the usual way. I knew exactly how I wanted it to end and then wrote the beginning to get them there. I'm not sure it's working well. Ah well, that's what editing is for.
To become more inspired, I've been going back to the show and have started writing the connect the dots of the flashbacks. It's my way of making it make sense. The evolution of the Nick & Lacroix relationship. By that I mean, the different attitudes and interplay between the characters from flashback to flashback are inconsistent. I know it's because the flashbacks were written by different writers at different times to suit the main theme of the episode. But I always wondered, 'what happened between flashback A and flashback B to make them act that way.' So, I'm writing it.
I've also challenged myself to write around 800-word or fewer 'stories', from Lacroix's POV since, although he likes to hear the sound of his own voice, I get the feeling that he keeps so much contained and not talked about. I find it a challenge since the guys often get wordy and want to talk talk talk talk. I'm doing this for episodes that made me say 'AND WE'RE NEVER GOING TO TALK ABOUT IT AGAIN? REALLY?' Again, I know why in reality but, damn, so mean of them to have the characters say or do something significant, and then it is never brought up again. At least I think they are significant but I'm usually looking at Lacroix and Nick's relationship.
Someone on the Forever Knight Fan Group on Facebook asked "what are your favorite episodes in each season?" Mine are the Lacroix-heavy episodes, especially once he had the character down. So the flashbacks from season 1, a lot from seasons 2 and 3. Nigel Bennett was sublime in his acting. His face and eyes and voice often told more of the story than the script. It's not that I find his evil attractive, it's that I find his and Nick's relationship fascinating. Nick acted like a whiney, petulant, child at times, very entitled seeming and I always wondered if that was an actor choice or if it was in the script. Either way, I have to wonder why Lacroix didn't just stake him and go on with life.
Although there is a sexual element in my fanfic, to me, it was barely there in the show. It WAS there, hinted at, but barely. A few moments here and there where I looked askance and wondered if that was an actor choice or if it was written that way.
And then there is Janette. She was criminally underused. But, the show was about Nick's quest to regain his humanity, not explore the world of complex vampire relationships as they moved time. Although, I would watch that for sure. As long as it wasn't with teenagers.
